ART WALK: CD14’s Jose Huizar introduced a motion on March 25 that will have the Department of Building and Safety and the Planning stop issuing citations to property owners who commission murals on their property . . –– The murals are defined as “fine art” and includes graph style works that have been whitewashed by orders of the B & S. ADD MOTION: The citations of 1k a day have exposed further that there is no clear permit process for art work located on private property. .–– The motion was part of Huizar’s goal to enable the “creation and restoration of permitted public art.”

SPEAKING OF ART MOVEMENT: The Los Angeles County Museum of Art will open Phantom Sightings: Art after the Chicano Movement April 6 and is being billed as the largest exhibition of Chicano art ever presented at LACMA. Que Es?:
The official description is art work created by Americans of Mexican
descent, that “was established as a politically and culturally inspired
movement during the counterculture revolutions of the late 1960s and
early 1970s.”

PLAY BALL: No fake emotions took the field at the opening day ceremonies for your Los Angeles Dodgers; Even veteran ball players wore Dodger Blue goosebumps with the march of time that ended with Sandy Kofax returning . . –– Where's the trophy? The MVP for the ceremony is Dodger front office field of dream maker Charles Steinberg, who out did years of FOX ownership before the first at bat on his watch . . –– Dodgers fans had "peanuts in their throats and Cracker Jack in their memories" says LAT's Bill Plaschke. Or as LAO says, the only thing missing was the cornfield. . . –– One other thing missing: Kirk Gibson pumping his arm between first and second base.

IT IS APRIL 1: Seems that the Militant has a dark side in the form of an East Coast Operative who is extremely cautious about the influence of outside forces, like the west coast. Meet Extremist New Yorker, a Yankee Fan. . .–– WHERE WILL I FIND THE TIME? As Angelenic slows down, Blogdowntown has a new look and I will be making the occasional appearance over at On Bunker Hill.
I love what you did with my photo.
