Lift your bike on to the rack on the front of a Metro Bus and you may find out your two-wheeled transportation device is a bit heavier than expected ––as the man sitting in the middle of Broadway discovered late Saturday afternoon. It looked bad as he lost his balance and fell backwards into the path of a white Caddy.
After a dull thud, he took a quick ride on the hood before landing a few feet away. You can tell by where the bike is sitting, under the front grill, that the driver of the Caddy had good reflexes. He slammed his brakes quickly enough to prevent what could have been a very, very, bad scene.
The dazed commuter tried to get up quickly, then decided to take it slowly, and made it to the curb with the help of some onlookers (including the person seen simply gasping at the whole thing).
Paramedics were on another call four blocks away, so they were there within 15 minutes of a 911 call. By then, the biker was already boarded and waiting on the Metro 40, ready to move on and forget the whole thing. The Metro Driver wasn’t moving until the paramedics took a look at the very lucky rider. The Caddy driver hung on until he got an all clear to go.
