Thousands
packed Whittier Boulevard for the 33rd Annual East Los Angeles
Christmas Parade eager for first holiday peek of El Chavo.
No luck. But Santa made it.
Like many other Christmas parades, this one was started by merchants to ring in the
holiday shopping season and has since grown to represent every wave of Latinos
living in and around East L.A.
While l did chuckle at the sight of one sponsor banner marching down the route that read "Reed's Pawnmart: Money to Loan," I have to give this parade it's props. No TV contract? No problem.
Just stick the VIPs somewhere in between the Zoot Suiters and the salsa dancing team, just after the Charro Jalisiences truck Everyone's here to just to cruise Whittier Boulevard and show their stuff.
That other "Santa" parade over in Hollywood can use the same spirit.

Nice pics! :)
