9th and Broadway isn't too old to rock and roll.

The_mars_volta Veteran concert-goer in line to see The Mars Volta at The Orpheum?
No. The older gentleman has a daily routine of waiting for his ride home around 4 p.m. and was just leaning on the cone to get a better look at the crowd as he stood behind these Mars Volta fans, just  in from Ventura County.
The line here was in the middle of 9th street block between Broadway and Main/Spring, and by 7:30 wrapped around to up to the Joe's Parking lot entrance on Spring, across from Angelique Cafe. As Eric noted, concert-goers started lining up as early as noon. The system ran smoothly as entrances to cafes and businesses were kept clear of people sitting on the sidewalks.
The Orpheum Theatre is having a busy year with concerts, filming, audition site for shows like "You think you can dance", and film premieres like the recent red-carpeted "Grindhouse" opening.  With the Eastern Columbia Building across the street, some good cafes near by, this strip of 9th and Broadway is getting a identity of it's own.
